While working as a companion to a rich American woman, the unnamed narrator meets and marries wealthy Englishman Maximilian de Winter.  But when she arrives at his mansion, Manderley, she discovers that is impossible to lay to rest the memory of Maxim’s first wife, Rebecca, who died in a sailing accident a year ago and still has a strong hold on everyone at Manderley.  I loved this book, it was so so good!
